This session focuses on using free-text chief complaint data for public health syndromic surveillance. Presenters will discuss the importance of chief complaints as well as describe an algorithm to extract information from free-text chief complaints and compare them with diagnostic codes; thereby, improving and refining syndromic surveillance.
