A6: A6 - Viral Hepatitis Surveillance

Surveillance for acute and chronic viral hepatitis is critical for local, state, and national health officials to follow trends in viral hepatitis infections, identify possible outbreaks, and to help determine the burden of infection and disease so as to best target prevention efforts, research, and public health resources. This workshop will provide an overview of national surveillance for acute and chronic hepatitis C, a state perspective on HCV surveillance and NYC experience with acute hepatitis B surveillance.
