P2: PL2 - Adolescent and Adult Hepatitis Vaccination Update

This plenary will update participants on the current state of hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccination among adolescents and adults at behavioral risk for these infections. It will include updates on the importance of considering these immunizations alongside other prevention activities for persons at risk for sexually transmitted diseases, the progress of the pending CDC/ACIP recommendations for adult hepatitis B immunization, and the burgeoning CDC collaborative initiative to prevent hepatitis B among adults
Learning Objectives: A. Outline strategies for hepatitis prevention for infants, children, adolescents, and adults. B. Identify specific intervention strategies that address the needs of individuals in high-risk groups including, but not limited to, clients engaged in injection drug use (IDU)/substance abuse, clients in STD/HIV clinics, men who have sex with men, homeless populations, and inmates in correctional settings. C. Identify specific intervention strategies that address the viral hepatitis prevention needs of individuals in groups with health disparities including, but not limited to, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, American Indians/Alaska Natives, and African-Americans. D. Describe methods for integrating and evaluating viral hepatitis prevention services into existing programs. E. Identify and access communication, education, and training needs and available resources for viral hepatitis prevention and control; evaluate the effectiveness of education and training methods.
