Biographical Sketch:
Consultant to the Montana Diabetes Project, DPHHS, Quality Diabetes Education Initiative Coordinator for the past 10 years:
- Coordinate a self-study and peer-mentoring program that increases the skills of individual health care professionals in diabetes education through a process that is tailored to the needs of the educator, clients and setting. I personally mentor participants as well. To date, over 100 health care professionals have accessed this program in MT, and the number of CDEs has increased in MT dramatically.
- Provide technical assistance and resources to outpatient settings in developing diabetes education programs and help them obtain recognition from the ADA, AADE and IHS, with 26 programs achieving that goal thus far.
- Provide a wide range of diabetes education resources, technical assistance, and mentoring to health care professionals, organizations, and individuals with diabetes in the state of MT. ------ -- Facilitate effective relationship between DPHHS and diabetes educators statewide. Work with numerous organizations and individuals to improve access to and the quality of diabetes education in Montana.
