Biographical Sketch:
Ms. Ammary-Risch, M.P.H., CHES, is the Deputy Director of the National Eye Health Education Program at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health. In this role, she provides leadership in creating awareness about diabetic eye disease among people living with the disease, those at higher risk for diabetes, primary care providers, and other health professionals. Ms. Ammary-Risch has worked in the fields of health education and health communication at both the local and national level for more than 10 years. Much of her work has focused on health literacy and cultural competency. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist and holds a degree in communication studies from West Virginia University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
