Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Tschann studies personal relationships and their influence on health-related outcomes among children and adolescents, particularly in Latino populations. In two related longitudinal studies, she examined how family relationships influence adolescents’ health risk behaviors, violence and victimization. She is completing a NIAID-funded study investigating the impact of sexual relationship dynamics on condom use among Latino adolescents. She recently received NHLBI funding to examine parental influences on obesity among Mexican American children, focusing on parents’ child-feeding practices. She has acted as methodological consultant on numerous studies, advising colleagues on research designs, hypothesis generation, methodology, and statistical model selection.
