Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Bullough has managed chronic disease programs since joining the UDOH in 1999 (DPCP 11/05-present, Arthritis Program 8/99-11/05). Prior to 1999, he held positions as director of quality improvement within a health system and was a National Institutes of Health research fellow. He also holds positions as instructor and adjunct professor at the University of Utah (Departments of Nutrition and Health Promotion) and is a graduate of the Great Basin Public Health Leadership Institute. Dr. Bullough is a board member and incorporator for the Utah Partnership on Healthy Weight; a not-for-profit organization focused on coordinating anti-obesity efforts in Utah and is a former chair of the UDOH Obesity Coordination Workgroup, overseeing the development of Utah’s Obesity Report and State Plan. He has or currently does serve on a variety of boards including the American Diabetes Association (Utah Chapter), Arthritis Foundation (Utah Chapter), and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. He was instrumental in developing the Arthritis Council, of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, and served as the first chair of this council. Dr. Bullough has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and abstracts related to chronic disease, systems change, data measurement and utilization, and public health practice. He holds graduate degrees in exercise science and human nutrition and completed post-graduate training in human metabolism.
