Biographical Sketch:
2006-present -- Health Services Consultant, WA State Department of Health, Olympia WA 2003-2006 -- Chronic Disease Coordinator, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, Seattle WA 2001-2003 -- Medical Assistant Supervisor, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, Seattle WA 1999-2000 -- Medical Director, Unidad de Salud Dr. Tomas Pineda Martinez, Santa Ana, Dpt. de Santa Ana, El Salvador Francisco Arias-Reyes has been a Health Services Consultant with the Washington State Department of Health Diabetes Prevention and Control Program since June 2006. Mr. Arias-Reyes is the Director of the Washington State Collaborative to Improve Health, along with his role as coach for the adults’ with diabetes and asthma teams. He comes from Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a non profit organization that provides medical, dental, and other health services to the general population, specializing in reaching Latino populations. He was employed with Sea Mar for almost five years, and during his last three years there, he managed the Chronic Disease Prevention Program, focusing on improving health outcomes in patients with diabetes and asthma. Raised in San Salvador, El Salvador, Francisco now lives in Washington State, where he moved almost eight years ago. He graduated from the National University of El Salvador in the year 2000 where he obtained his Medical Degree. He worked for the Salvadorian Health Department as part of his medical training in public health, focusing on rural and underserved communities. Francisco likes to work with patients with chronic diseases, due to his personal experience with his own family, and utilizing his Bi-lingual, Bi-cultural skills, he would like to help the Spanish speaking population suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes. Francisco brings to the collaborative his experience with quality improvement work in primary care settings, along with his medical background.
