Biographical Sketch:
Meghan Kissell is the Associate Director of Grassroots Advocacy with the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Since 2006, Ms. Kissell has worked to strengthen ADA’s grassroots capacity and mobilize people with an interest in diabetes to help fight for increased resources for research, treatment and prevention efforts. Before joining ADA, Ms. Kissell was the National Field Director for Public Policy and Government with the American Association of University Women. She played a key role in developing get-out-the-vote efforts, providing technical assistance on political advocacy and training to empower people as effective advocates. Her grassroots advocacy career began when she was the Director of Communications and Advocacy with the American Medical Women’s Association. She worked with numerous coalitions fighting for access to health care, violence against women and tobacco cessation and directed several women's health education projects, while working to engage women physicians to citizen advocates
