Dr. Simkin-Silverman has 15 years of research experience in primary care based interventions and behavioral medicine. She led a study evaluating the feasibility of training PCPs in obesity and exercise counseling, and an NIH-funded RCT evaluating the efficacy of weight control counseling in the primary care setting (Primary Care Weight Control Project). Dr. Simkin-Silverman recently adapted the DPP lifestyle intervention curriculum for use in the BARI-2 trial, a large multi-center clinical trial of patients with high risk for adverse CVD events. She has been a leader in this project’s adaptation of behavioral coaching techniques to the online setting.
