PUBLICATIONS
I created a social marketing and behavior change program for chronic disease self-management. This program is being used by rural health centers in West Virginia and diabetes coalitions in the Appalachian Region. The program was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundationˇ¦s Diabetes Initiative, 2003-2007.
I authored the following chronic disease self-management publications. Over 15,000 of these publications have been distributed in the Appalachian Region.
„X Balance Your Plate: a guide for healthy eating.
„X Choose to Move: a guide for physical activity for adults with limited mobility.
„X Kick the Habit: a guide for quitting tobacco use.
„X Health Passport: a record keeping guide for chronic disease self-management.
„X Patient self-assessment guides: Are You Ready; Love Your Feet; Know Your A1c; Diabetes Sick Day Management.
I originated the idea and developed the content for a touch-screen computer system for engaging adolescents in healthy lifestyle self-management. It is part of a program for reducing obesity in school age children. After four months since development it is now being used in four schools.
