Director of Research and Evaluation (2007 to Present)
CHARLES B. WANG COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (New York, NY)
• Lead in research needs assessment and strategic planning activities to establish core research and evaluation functions and agenda for the Health Center.
• Led, designed and implemented the evaluation activities of the Health Center’s major diabetes grant project: Chinatown Diabetes ACTION (funded by the New York State Health Foundation)
• Co-led, planned and conducted research on the role of social network in enhancing diabetic disease management of Chinese American diabetic patients.
• Provide oversight of research operations and administration, including the development of research protocols and monitoring of research compliance with regard to IRB regulations.
• Provide consultation and technical support for clinical teams to plan and conduct quality improvement activities and PDSA cycle studies.
Director of Research (2001 to 2003)
ASIAN AMERICAN FEDERATION OF NEW YORK (New York, NY)
• Served as the principal investigator for two major economic impact studies of the September
11 tragedy on Manhattan’s Chinatown (funded by the Rockefeller Foundation).
• Directed a mental health needs assessment of September 11th on victims’ families of Asian descent and vulnerable groups in Chinatown (funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation).
• Served as the principal investigator for a study of a health care initiative to expand coverage to Asian American immigrant workers (funded by the Commonwealth Fund).
• Oversaw the Federation’s Census Information Center and the development of social demographic indicators in tracking the well-being of different Asian American communities.
Co-authored numerous presentations regarding Asian Americans, diabetes and other chronic illnesses for American Public Health Association Annual Conferences, Chinese American Medical Society and Chinese American Independent Practice Association annual conference, and National Association of Community Health Centers conferences (CBWCHC 2007 - 2009).
