Biographical Sketch:
As a physical activity epidemiologist, Dr. Kriska is well known for her work in both physical activity intervention and assessment. As part of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) Research Core, she helped developed and implemented the highly successful lifestyle intervention for the DPP and was responsible for the physical activity portion of that effort. Besides the DPP, Dr. Kriska has assisted in the development of many other local and national NIH funded clinical trials that involve physical activity including STOPP-T2D TODAY (treatment of youth with Type 2 Diabetes), LOOK AHEAD (intervention in adults with Type 2 diabetes), and the WOMAN study (lifestyle intervention in high risk overweight women in Pittsburgh). As Co-Investigator and Co-Director for the Physical Activity and Obesity Research Core of Project EXPORT (Excellence in Partnerships for Community Outreach, Research on Health Disparities and Training), much of her work has involved minority populations.
