Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Rosemary Duffy is a Captain in the United States Public Health Service. She attended the Ohio State University as an undergraduate, received her Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and her doctorate of dental surgery from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Captain Duffy has worked as a dentist in private practice and at the state and federal government level. She began her dental career working alongside her father, Dr. Franklyn V. Duffy in Toledo, Ohio. She became interested in public health from the work her father had accomplished as a public health dentist and as the coordinator of the fluoridation study in Toledo, Ohio. Captain Duffy was assigned by the federal government to the Health Services Administration, Rockville, Maryland where she was responsible for the improvement of dental education, practice, and personnel. She was next assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Here she worked on infectious disease epidemiology projects related to medical and dental devices. Since 1999, she has been assigned from the CDC to the Ohio Department of Health in Columbus, Ohio and is currently the Deputy State Epidemiologist for Chronic Disease.
