Biographical Sketch:
Worked as registered dietitian at St. Paul Ramsey County Public Health program
Currently responsible for dietetics education of patients with diabetes at clinic serving Latinon community. Responsible for faciliating groups of the DPP in Spanish for this group at the WestSide Community Health Center. Also consultant to the MN Department of Health as a contract trainer for the DPP program called the I CAN Prevent Diabetes program in Minnesota. This is primarilry a community based program deliverd by community health clinics, YMCA and other community sites. In this role, Arlene helps to plan the training program and lead participants through the 16 week sessions. She also critiques new faciliators and gives feedback to help them develop their skills to implement the program. She has conducted two programs in Minnesota, one to Spanish speaking audience, helping to develop DPP supplemental materials in Spanish and to translate and interpret for the students during the training, which was offered in English.
