Biographical Sketch:
Lindsey has published a review of the DPP in Diabetes Care in March 2009. She lead the I CAN Prevent Diabetes DPP groups at Open Cities Federally Qualified Health Clinic in St. Paul MN as a student intern at the Steps to a Healthier St. Paul program in St. Paul MN in 2008. The participant survey used for the ICAN Prevent Diabetes program was modified by Lindsey to include a pre participant survey and post participant survey to evaluate questions of readiness for change and availability of healthy food and safe locations to exercise. She then worked as a student worker in both the Steps to a Healthier St. Paul program and the Steps to a Healthier Minneapolis programs as they implemented I CAN Prevent Diabetes groups in YMCAs, community clinics, US Extension programs, and other sites. Subsequently, she is evaluating the pre and post survey results and weight loss data for her master's disertation. As a result of this experience, Lindsey was selected to be a lead trainer for the Minnesota I CAN Prevent Diabetes faciliator trainings in March 2009 and July 2009. She has also trained YMCA staff in Washington to lead the DPP program there.
