Biographical Sketch:
I graduated from Charleston Southern University in 2007 as a double major in professional biology and Spanish. While there I was inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, also known as the national Spanish honors society. I spent a year volunteering my time in privately funded free clinics in urban poverty stricken areas of the South Carolina, low country. Currently, I attend the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public Health, department of epidemiology and Biostatistics. I am working as a Graduate Assistant at the Department of Health and Environmental Control, Health Services and chronic disease division in South Carolina. Areas of interest include diabetes, perinatal health, racial and social economical disparities. I place an emphasis on the social economical disparities and perinatal health outcomes related to hypertensive disorders during pregnancy and APGAR scores.
