Biographical Sketch:
2008-Present -- Deputy Associate Director for Marketing Sciences–National Center for Health Marketing. Managed the Potential Extramural Program review process. Supervised the process for the Board of Scientific Counselors. Co-wrote the research funding opportunity announcement cooperative agreement. Provided daily leadership and management for the office. 2007-2008 -- Acting Director, National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP)--Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT). Provided leadership to 11 work groups, CDC funded national organizations and over 200 other organizations. Made presentations to audiences such as CDC/NCCDPHP senior leadership, national conference attendees and international guests. 2003-2007 -- Assistant Director, NDEP– DDT. Project officer for NIH Inter-agency Agreement, technical monitor for contracts including budgetary and programmatic oversight, provides consultation on the $3 million cooperative agreement with the NOs. Involved in multiple hiring agreements such as Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA), and Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). Reorganized staff responsibilities as new staff were hired. 2000-2003 -- Senior Program Analyst – DDT. Developed partnerships with various professional, voluntary, minority-based organizations, federal, state, and local agencies. Planned a meeting for 30 partners to discuss diabetes in America in Washington, DC, April 2001. Participants included presidents, chief executive officers, vice presidents, other executives and staff of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), American Association of Diabetes Educators, AARP, and purchasers such as the National Business Coalition on Health. Garnered partnership support for diabetes prevention developed briefing materials which included examples of our work. The meeting and materials were used as a model for other Divisions in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). Conducted a program analyses to identify process improvements. 1999-2000 -- Project Manager/Team Leader - Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program. Managed civilian bioterrorism programs. Team leader for a multi-disciplinary project group that included epidemiologists, laboratorians, and communication technologists. Administered over $8.5 million to eleven states. 1997-1999 -- Project Officer - DDT. Served as consultant to six state- and one territory-based diabetes prevention and control programs. Provided leadership as chair of the Division Managed Care Working Group. Represented the Division on the CDC-wide Managed Care Working Group. Served as the project officer for the evaluation contract designed to provide benchmarks for future program development. Served as project officer on development of managed care contract language specific to diabetes.
