BACKGROUND:
Lousiana had recently conducted a state wide personnel reduction. In order to address the "doing more with less" issue, the Office of Public Health (OPH) inititiated a "paper reduction" effor which included capturing signature electronically. The OPH application picked to pilot this technology was the Louisiana Immunization Network for Kids Statewide (LINKS).

OBJECTIVE(S):
Describe the implementation plan, technical solution, confidentiality issues/resolution.

METHOD(S):
Discussion, presentation, demonstration of the plan, the results, and the application/hardware.

RESULT(S):
The Electronic Signature solution is currently being piloted in eight sites.

CONCLUSIONS(S):
Technologies such as the Electronic Signature are effective paper reduction and time saving applications. Security and confidentiality issues can be addresses and resolved if implemented properly.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Be able to describe the solution both techically and operationally, the time and cost savings in doing so, and the lessons learned.
