KEYWORDS:
Deployment, Support, Resources

BACKGROUND:
As a regional immunization registry evolves in its deployment, many challenges are faced in order to continue to meet the ongoing objectives of a registry. One of the largest challenges for any immunization registry is the creation of a structure to deploy and support the Registry, not just the software. A non-traditional approach was necessary, recognizing in order to have a proper structure it requires a mix of personnel or resources. This group of resources will need a unique set of skills, requiring both programmatic and technical expertise.

OBJECTIVE(S):
To illustrate necessary resources needed to effectively maintain an Immunization Registry.

METHOD(S):
As the developer and implementer of Immunization Registries it has been necessary to change the model used for support. A model was created using a “team orientation” for the development and deployment of the registry. This team approach had to cross traditional boundaries to be effective.

RESULT(S):
An understanding of the various roles necessary throughout the Immunization Registry “team” and the personnel resources necessary to successfully support it.

CONCLUSIONS(S):
It is imperative for the successful deployment of an Immunization Registry that the decision makers are aware of and familiar with the critical nature of each resource necessary for deployment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To better understand key resource needs in the deployment of a registry.
