Immunization Registry Support
BACKGROUND:
As a regional immunization registry evolves in its deployment, many challenges are faced in order to continue to meet the ongoing objectives of an immunization registry. One of the largest challenges for any immunization registry is the creation of a communications infrastructure to support the Registry. In a consent-based, voluntary system it was clear how critical it was to maintain clear communications with all participants.
OBJECTIVE(S):
To share methods of communications with participants.
METHOD(S):
Once a provider or site is installed, it is important that they are contacted regularly to ensure that they are given the support that they need. This is done using many different types of communication. These include regular “care calls”, immediate follow-up on any questions and concerns, information updates at quarterly user meetings, and sending out updated information, documentation and materials. It is also necessary to have a system in place to keep track of each site’s status regarding use of the registry.
RESULT(S):
Awareness of the critical nature communication plays in maintaining active registry participants.
CONCLUSIONS(S):
It is imperative for the successful deployment of an Immunization Registry that a commitment is made to making sure participants are involved and aware of what is going on with registries.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To become familiar with various communication techniques used to maintain participant involvement.
