BACKGROUND:
The Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) is a web based immunization Registry developed and managed by the Wisconsin Immunization Program in partnership with the Division of Health Care Financing. The presentation will discuss implementaion strategies that include local public health departments, private providers, large clinical operations, managed care organizations and schools. The use of the WIR is receiving widespread support from public and private health care providers from throughout the state.
OBJECTIVE(S):
To discuss provider recruitment and implemention strategies, including downloading of historical data, data security and confidentiality and efforts to bring on large clinical entities and health insurers.
METHOD(S):
Oral presentation with question and answer.
RESULT(S):
An understanding of web based registry implementation.
CONCLUSIONS(S):
The development of Web based immunization registries is a unique and exciting opportunity for provider acceptance of immunization registries.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To understand how real time, web based immunization registries gives immunization programs a great opportunity to successfully capture provider acceptance.
