BACKGROUND:
The Wisconsin Immunization Program and the Division of Health Care Financing began to develop a strong partnership to increase immunization levels in infants and children following the 1989-90 measles outbreak. That partnership has led them to working together to develop a statewide immunization registry, secure registry funding through CMS and partner on an Immunization Initiative through the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA).
OBJECTIVE(S):
To discuss how Immunization Programs and Financial Assistance Programs can work together to develop and sustain immunization registries and, through the sharing of registry data, collaborate on projects to improve the immuniztion rates of infants and children.
METHOD(S):
Oral Presentation with question and answer
RESULT(S):
An understanding of the opportunities that exist for collaborative efforts to improve the immunization levels of infants and children.
CONCLUSIONS(S):
State agencies with a seemingly differant focus do have opportunities to collaborate on mutually beneficial programs.
