Karin C. Romey and Barbara C. Canavan. Office of Family Health, Immunization Program, Oregon Department of Human Services, 800 NE Oregon Street, Suite 370, Portland, OR, USA

KEYWORDS:
Integration, Use of Registry Data, Partnership

BACKGROUND:
In the past, ALERT's focus was strictly on private providers. We realized the need to support core immunization program goals. The Oregon Immunization Program set a strategic direction to integrate ALERT with all aspects of Oregon's Immunization Program management.

OBJECTIVE(S):
To enhance the Immunization Program by integrating ALERT with other immunization projects and to increase the validity of ALERT.

METHOD(S):
Reviewed areas where registry data could be used to target services. Steps were taken to utilize ALERT at all possibilities. Initial priority was partnering with VFC and AFIX. Among others, partnerships included expanded disease surveillance, private provider quality assurance, and assisting plans with HEDIS.

RESULT(S):
There was a demonstrable impact on Program Operations. Information generated from ALERT is used and promoted for most immunization projects. This integrated approach has helped streamline program operations by utilizing ALERT for all projects. Integration has helped to enhance the data quality in ALERT.

CONCLUSIONS(S):
Achieving integration with core immunization goals increased the value of the registry, expanded the use of registry data, and helped to target immunization services. Credibility is increased when program staff and external users see the multiple uses of the registry.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To describe how a registry can target immunization services based on registry data.
