BACKGROUND:
CNY Immunization Registry, is a 14 county regional registry in NYSIIS. Onondaga County Health Department is the lead agency for the CNYIR. As the CNYIR has grown, an objective of the registry has been to establish the use of the registry as a tool in public health delivery. Over the years, three factors have had an impact on registry data being a tool. One is the increase of children and providers. Two, recognizing the needs of public health programs often overlap, analyzing these to determine potential collaboration, especially at a time when budgets are in peril. Finally, Immunization Registries are the ‘new kids on the block’, as a registry it must constantly pitch its wares to public health partners.

OBJECTIVE:
To understand data use needs as registries explore partnerships with new entities.

METHOD:
Analyze data needs for the various entities. Develop pilots for these partnerships. Evaluate feasibility with existing resources and develop action plan to bring Registry data into use.

RESULT:
Partnerships in Onondaga County have been developed with the Lead Program, WIC Program, local Pediatric Emergency Room and HealthyStart. Each relationship has its own challenges, yet each provides the opportunity to work toward being that public health tool playing a role in keeping kids immunized.

CONCLUSION:
It is important to develop partnerships with peers in the immunization delivery world. It is up to the registry to pursue these relationships to bring the value of the registry into public health practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To see how a registry has approached data use in a public health setting.
