BACKGROUND:
The Lousiana Immunization Network for Kids Statewide (LINKS) was deployed in 2000. Since that time, all of public health and over 125 private provider organizations are participating. LINKS has interfaced with Vital Records, Medicaid, and WIC. LINKS has creatively added regsitry modules such as Medicare billing, VAERS interface, Hep B Case Management, electronic signature capture to name a few. Key modules in support of BT activities that have been developed and implemented are a First Responder and BT At-Risk Assessment Modules.
OBJECTIVE:
To share experiences and lessons learned in using a statewide registry in support of Bio Terorrism activities. To share methods and strategies in using these efforts to enable BT funds to support the sustainment and growth of the registry.
METHOD:
Describe the solutions and capabilities of specific tools and efforts in using the statewide immunization registry in support of BT activities. Will demonstrate the First Responder application and present details and requirements of the BT / Immunization Drill and how LINKS will be used in support of this.
RESULT:
An understanding of how immunization registries can be used in support of BT activities and the key capabilities required to do this. Also, an understanding of financial resources available using BT funds.
CONCLUSION:
Immunization registries can play a key role in supporting BT activities. Participating in these activities can also provide financial support in sustaining the registry.
