Effectiveness of a CD-ROM in Promoting Provider Registry Enrollment

BACKGROUND:
Every Child By Two (ECBT) developed a 12 minute CD-ROM for use by registry systems which was debuted at last years conference. It is intended to promote participation in immunization registries by private providers. During the summer of 2003 a pilot test of the CD-ROM is being performed to determine if the CD-ROM will be an effective tool in promoting registries to private providers and to see if it encourages their participation/enrollment in the registry system.

OBJECTIVE:
Report on the findings of the pilot test of the CD-ROM and its effectiveness in marking the immunization registry to private sector providers.

METHOD:
ECBT recruited a pilot site registry system by soliciting for interest in participation from the registry managers. Ten locations were volunteered and were evaluated using various readiness criteria with input from CDC. One pilot site was then chosen and was asked to provide a mailing list of private providers to ECBT from which 1/3 of the providers were sent the CD-ROM, 1/3 were sent a mailer from the registry office, and 1/3 were sent nothing. The registry office then tracked enrolling providers to determine if their enrollment was influenced by the CD-ROM.

RESULT:
The results of the pilot test will be revealed during the session.

CONCLUSION:
Various forms of private provider marketing should be encouraged to achieve provider participation in a registry.
