BACKGROUND:
In 2004 a number of states formed the WIR Collaborators Forum. The forum meets monthly to review, discuss and evaluate enhancements and requirements for state specific WIR design and development efforts. Documents and discussions are shared in a number of ways between and among state collaborators
OBJECTIVE:
· Provide details registry partnerships and collaborative design efforts.
· Describe how collaboration in registry design and development can improve value and influence design and development costs.
· Provide examples of state specific registry functional enhancements improved or gained by collaboration
METHOD:
Data and information for this presentation was gained from
· State specific collaborators
· WIR Collaboration Forum
· Postings in AIRA (American Immunization Registry Association) Special Interest Group forum
· Data and information inclusive of registry standards and requirements from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
RESULT:
· State specific registry development and design efforts were enhanced by collaboration
· Examination/discovery of potential registry enhancements were enriched by sharing of requirements
· Design, development time and costs were positively affected by collaborations
· Knowledge about and potential solutions to emerging standards and requirements were promoted or addressed by cross state partnerships
CONCLUSION:
Collaborations between state registries in design and development efforts can enrich knowledge sharing; inform designers and decision makers, and positively impact costs and development time
