BACKGROUND:
The Minnesota Computer Consortium(MCCC) Community Registry began as a local county effort for nine Minnesota Counties. It is now a free standing computerized Immunization Registry using AS00 IBM technology, which makes it suitable for small to large clinics to provide data to regional or state registries from both the public and private sector.

OBJECTIVE(S):
1. Demonstration of an interactive immunization registry that currently meets CDC guidelines for public immunization and the Minnesota state statute for childhood and school immunizations.
2. Share the experience of envisioning, developing and operationalizing a local county immunization registry.

METHOD(S):
1. Lecture
2. Interactive powerpoint registry demonstration
3. Discussion with participants based upon their inquiry

RESULT(S):
1. Understanding of one state of the art computerized registry.
2. Participants will have an opportunity to avoid some difficulties discovered by the MCCC Public Health development team.

CONCLUSIONS(S):
The Minnesota MCCC Immunization Registry demonstration will support other communites to utlilize their technology potential to improve the public's health regarding immunization status for preventable diseases.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Participants will learn to avoid time consuming technology development pitfalls.
2. Participants will understand the advantages of an immunization registry that hold only public data, independent from the private medical record as a means to improve population health.
