KEYWORDS:
Visual design principles, print materials, posters, videos, communications, immunization
BACKGROUND:
Immunization programs need to create print materials, videos, and presentations that effectively educate the public, parents and health care professionals on immunization topics. To be effective, those materials should use and reflect proper visual design principles including color, layout, typography and other graphic elements. Unfortunately, most health professionals have little or no visual design training. Through this workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of basic visual design principles as they relate to immunization practices.
OBJECTIVE(S):
To introduce principles of visual design and to demonstrate how to consolidate immunization content into visual products. These will include print materials (e.g., brochures and flyers), posters, and videos that have been derived from public health research. When basic visual design principles are properly applied to translating immunization research findings into communication products, better products result.
METHOD(S):
RESULT(S):
Through applying essential visual design principles, development team members can better translate immunization data into effective visual products.
CONCLUSIONS(S):
Using the visual design principles described above, immunization programs can create more effective and powerful communication materials.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
