C11: Pertussis in the U.S. What is going on? Session 2

This workshop will describe pertussis-associated deaths in the U.S. and discuss if these deaths could have been prevented. Diagnosis of pertussis remains challenging and information on new and old PCR tests will be presented. In addition, because surveillance for this disease is also challenging, data will be presented on the sensitivity of the surveillance system in LA County.
Learning Objectives: Describe trend of pertussis-associated deaths in the U.S., and the challenges of diagnosis and surveillance for this endemic disease.
