D11: Improving the Immunization of Seniors in Long Term Care Facilities: The Standing Orders Project (SOP) - Part 1

This workshop will be one of 2 workshops to discuss the intervention of implementing standing orders among seniors in long-term care facilities to improve vaccination coverage for influenza and pneumococcal. A national survey on the current status of laws and policies for standing orders in each state will be presented. Baseline information from the CMS-CDC multi-state collaborative project will be presented, including baseline vaccination rates in nursing homes and association of coverage rates with nursing homes characteristics and type of vaccination program.
Learning Objectives: The participant should be able to describe what a standing order is and 1) current status of laws and policies on standing orders nationally and 2) early findings on the impact of the CMS-CDC standing orders projects.
