C5: Selecting Vaccines for Your Formulary: Tools for Purchasing Decisions

Existing and new antigens are being combined into an array of vaccines to reduce the number of required injections. But these new products contain overlapping, non-complementary antigens of which not all are needed to satisfactorily immunize children. Speakers will describe and demonstrate live a web-based algorithm tool developed under CDC contract (www.vaccineselection.com) to select formularies of monovalent and combination vaccines that satisfy the recommended childhood immunization schedule at the most economical cost.
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to explain the principles upon which the selection algorithm is based and to use their own internet access to solve for lowest-cost formularies with their particular criteria and costs.
