Diverse communities raise a variety of challenges and issues for immunization supporters. Using proven tools and strategies, many of the issues and concerns of multicultural populations can be addressed effectively. This workshop will look at projects that have used research to better understand target audiences, developed partnerships to reach underserved populations, and implemented programs to develop culturally/linguistically appropriate materials and services.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to: a) describe a successful model of collaboration that can increase vaccination rates in underserved populations b) describe unique challenges faced in program development that crossed national borders c) identify some of the knowledge, attitude and beliefs of Hispanic adolescents related to immunizations.
