D9: Coalitions: Enabling Change

Coalitions provide an important means of community enpowerment and they can also enact system changes that improve health outcomes. This session will focus on two programs that, through incentives, have enhanced community involvement and empowerment. The session will also focus on activities of immunization coalitions across the country regarding their implementation and promotion of nationally recommended evidence-based immunization practices.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to: a) describe how coalitions can enhance community capacity and affect health systems changes through the use of evidence-based practices b) describe activities that engage volunteer, media and policymakers in immunization efforts c) identify ways to reinforce positive behaviors of key immunization partners through reward and recognition programs.
