BACKGROUND:
The Steering Committee for Healthy Seniors Coalition focusing on Adult Immunizations wanted to expand the coalition state-wide. The state was divided into 12 regions to promote regional activities based upon regional needs to increase immunization rates in the adult population.

OBJECTIVE:
To increase adult immunization rates with a focus on minority disparities

METHOD:
Steering committee members advocated participation in the statewide coalition to persons interested in promoting adult immunizations in regions across the state. Recruitment for the coalition has been via word of mouth, and by continuously identifying and inviting stakeholders groups to attend regional and /or statewide meetings.

RESULT:
To date, four regions have active coalitions with the goal of recruiting the participation of stakeholders in other regions.

CONCLUSION:
The process of regional and statewide recruitment and immunization activites are ongoing. Each region has immunization activities that are unique, yet they share information, lessons learned, and successes with the other regions via the statewide coalition to improve statewide adult immunization rates.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To describe the process of recruitment and implemention of an adult immunization coalition on statewide and regional levels. To discuss successes, and lessons learned from regional immunization activities.
