Texas Identifies Providers for Recruitment

Codie Prinz, Texas Vaccines for Children Program, Texas Department of Health, 1100 W. 49th Street, Austin, TX, USA

KEYWORDS:
Provider Recruitment, Denominator, Texas State Board of Medical Examiners (TSBME), Tracking

BACKGROUND:
Provider recruitment in Texas is a large component of the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC). The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires that we document our market saturation rate for physicians enrolled in the TVFC. In order to establish the market saturation rate we must identify the true provider denominator.

OBJECTIVE:
Identify non-enrolled physicians and clinic sites and recruit them for the TVFC.

METHOD:
The TVFC obtained the TSBME physician listing for the state. All physicians were sorted according to their practice address. TVFC enrollment data was compared to the TSBME listing. Each Local Health Department (LHD) received a listing of non-enrolled providers for recruitment. Potential providers not within LHD jurisdiction were given to the Public Health Region (PHR) for recruitment. All responses to recruitment efforts will be documented on the quarterly reports including reasons for not enrolling.

RESULT:
Project is ongoing and will be completed by August 31, 2003.

CONCLUSION:
Upon completion of the project, data will be analyzed to assess the true denominator of physicians remaining for recruitment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Identify methods to achieve market saturation by identifying the true base denominator.
