KEYWORDS:
Immunization Registries, Providers, Technical Capabilities

BACKGROUND:
The success of any Immunization Registry relies on the recruitment of providers and the continued use of the application. Oftentimes barriers are presented which can be overcome by creative technical solutions. These can range from helping providers get legacy and real-time data into their system to helping with non-standard assessments or queries.

OBJECTIVE:
Have the ability, using technical resources, to respond to provider needs quickly and effectively. Tools need to be available to different team members to create a responsive environment at the registry.

METHOD:
Through a review process, requests can be evaluated and prioritized with quick solutions for the providers.

RESULT:
Providers are appreciative and therefore loyal to the registry when they see the registry is sensitive to the barriers, and will do what they can to overcome them. Solutions are not always registry resource intensive, but often provide a big bang for the buck.

CONCLUSION:
It is clear that in order to achieve the full benefits of immunization registries, providers need to use the registry in their day to day activity. In order for this to happen it is necessary to focus on quasi-technical tools that can help sustain the registry in the provider’s office.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
To provide examples of quasi-technical solutions that help make a successful registry.
