E1: "Pre-Event" Surveillance for Smallpox and Smallpox-Related Diseases |
Surveillance for acute rash illnesses is required as part of bioterrorism preparedness and represents the front lines for detection of a possible reintroduction of smallpox. This session will provide an introduction to CDC resources and available technical assistance in support of state and local rash illness surveillance, along with a historical overview. Recent experiences with rash illness case evaluation will be presented by selected states and localities. |
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to identify the acute rash illness most likely to be mistaken for smallpox.
