A1: Vaccine Safety Controversies and the Public

Presenters in this workshop will discuss vaccine safety controversies, challenges to high coverage rates and communicating with vaccine critics.
Learning Objectives: 1) Describe collective action problems arising in the context of U.S. and United Kingdom childhood vaccination policies. 2) Understand how a consistent and independent review of vaccine adverse events can be used to guide recommendations for public health action. 3) Understand the difference between Hazard and Outrage, and some principles of how to address and reduce public Outrage over vaccine safety.
