B10: Tetanus and Haemophilus influenzae type b Disease in the United States

This workshop will present information on tetanus and Hib disease, two low incidence diseases which are of continued public health concern due to their clinical severity, cost and preventability. The presentations will include the epidemiology of tetanus in the U.S. and in California, including a discussion of important risk groups; an update on H. influenzae surveillance in the United States and important surveillance issues; and the current epidemiology of Hib cases in U.S. children.
Learning Objectives: Participants should be able to describe the current epidemiology of tetanus in the U.S. and California, and of Hib cases in U.S. children; and important H. influenzae surveillance issues.
