A3: Varicella Outbreaks In the United States: Failure to Vaccinate or Vaccine Failure?

In this workshop we will update the epidemiology of varicella eight years into the vaccination program, highlighting recent varicella outbreaks, issues related to investigating and controlling these outbreaks, and determining if the outbreaks are the result failure to vaccinate or vaccine failure.
Learning Objectives: Participants should be able to describe measures for varicella outbreak control and prevention and ways to determine if the outbreaks are the result of failure to vaccinate or vaccine failure.
