B15: Computer-Based Application Demonstration: A Web-Based Tool for Designing Large-Scale Smallpox Vaccination Clinics Using Computer Simulation |
Presenters will demonstrate a web-based program designed to assist public health officials in allocating resources that will maximize patient flow-through in large-scale vaccination clinics. This software allows public health officials to explore their options regarding staff allocation that will maximize the number of patients vaccinated in a 24 hour period while avoiding bottlenecks and delays. The program will be available to state and local planners through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. |
Learning Objectives: The participant should be able to (1) describe the main features of a web-based program designed to help state and local officials prepare for massive smallpox vaccination, (2) discuss how simulation can help planners maximize the use of healthcare personnel, and (3) identify potential problems with the participant’s current strategies to implement a smallpox vaccination clinic.
