G11: Billing Medicare for Adult Vaccination: Benefits to Local Public Health Departments

Funding in the public health sector for purchase and administration of adult vaccines is limited. Given recent increases in Medicare payment rates for adult vaccines and their administration and the need for public health to take a larger role in efforts to vaccinate adults, Medicare billing becomes an appealing option for state and local health departments. Medicare revenues can be used to help sustain adult immunization program efforts.
Learning Objectives: Following this workshop, participants should be able to describe how to apply the principles and practices for billing Medicare to sustain adult vaccination program efforts.
