Vaccine Safety: Nuts and Bolts to News Stories

BACKGROUND:
This session will provide a short course on vaccine safety topics relating to clinical, surveillance and communication issues.

OBJECTIVE:
The course will cover practical information for health care providers and public health workers. Specific topics that will be discussed include: vaccine administration and management issues including contraindications and precautions; federal vaccine licensure and safety surveillance activities; current vaccine safety topics in the news; vaccine risk communication principles and their application and vaccine safety resources. A question and answer session will also be included.
