42nd National Immunization Conference (NIC): Pertussis: What's Hot!

Pertussis: What's Hot!

Presenters in this workshop will discuss relevant pertussis topics. The first speaker will discuss a recent pertussis outbreak that occurred in a highly-vaccinated school population, which will demonstrate the importance of vaccination and the need for improved understanding of factors that contribute to disruption of transmission and resolution of outbreaks. The second speaker will describe the impact of implementing more focused pertussis control guidelines. The last speaker will use national data to describe the clinical characteristics, risk factors and epidemiologic trends of pertussis-related deaths from 2000-2005.
