Texas has conducted surveillance for pertussis since 1920. The incidence of disease has increased over the past seven years. Outbreaks in school settings continue to occur around the state.
Objectives:
To determine whether the epidemiology of pertussis has changed in Texas over the last ten years.
Methods:
Descriptive statistics for pertussis surveillance data over the last ten years will be analyzed to determine whether any significant differences have occurred.
Results:
The results of the analysis will be presented at the conference.
Conclusions:
Results of the analysis will be used to determine whether educational campaigns need to target specific populations within the state.
