Biographical Sketch:
1974 - present – Pharmacist practitioner in primary care (family medicine), drug information, and currently serving in public health volunteer activities as associate professor of pharmacy practice in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, NE. 1994 - present -- Active in the Immunization Task Force – Metro Omaha (ITF) since 1994, and in various leadership positions of that advocacy group over the last 10 years. Current Chair of the Task Force. Leader in development of an ITF Speaker’s Bureau, and in coordinating Immunization Registry and Hepatitis B birth dose promotion efforts. 1997 – present -- National faculty member for the American Pharmacists Association Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery Certificate program, with average of 2-4 programs annually. 1999 – present – Instructor of Record for approximately 1500 pharmacy students and pharmacists in 1 credit hour course and continuing education program on pharmacy-based immunization delivery at Creighton University. 2000 – present – Various consultant or volunteer service in various public health areas at the county, state level, as well as for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Recent research in the areas of pertussis outbreaks, hepatitis B birth dose policy adoption, and school nurse practice related to immunizations. Author of 18 articles and book chapters on topics related to immunizations, ethics, drug information, pharmacy residency education, and various drug therapy issues. Numerous presentations at local, regional, and national professional meetings, as well as to the lay public. Over the past 10 years these have commonly been on immunization topics.
