Biographical Sketch:
2004 to present -- Medical Director, Tennessee Immunization Program, Nashville, TN. 2003-2004 -- Preventive Medicine Resident, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), assigned to Tennessee Department of Health, Nashville, TN. 2001-2003 -- Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer, CDC, Office on Smoking and Health, Atlanta, GA. 2000-2001 -- Resident in Pediatrics, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Responsible for direction and oversight of state Immunization Program activities, including developing new regulations, dealing with legislators, media, and providing oversight for investigation and control of vaccine-preventable diseases. Created and implemented the Tennessee protocols and policies for management of improper vaccine storage events and situations involving the administration of vaccines compromised by improper storage. Responsible for pandemic influenza planning 2005 to 2008, including development of state pandemic influenza response plan in 2006. Founding Chair, Association of Immunization Managers' Vaccine Storage and Handling Working Group. Presented results of survey of Immunization Managers on vaccine storage and handling policies and perceived need for evidence based guidelines, National Immunization Conference, Marcn 2008, Atlanta, GA. Primary author or co-author of several presentations and posters at national scientific meetings.
