Biographical Sketch:
In 2005, Kim began working for the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS). In 2009, Kim took on the responsibilities of the CIIS Data Specialist to coordinate accurate and complete data transfer between electronic health records, data systems and CIIS. As an Immunization Coordinator, Ms. Irby was responsible for implementing Colorado’s statewide immunization registry in clinics across the state. She worked with a variety of clinics along the Front Range, including local public health departments, community health clinics and private pediatricians and family practitioners. Her duties included presentations on the functionality of CIIS, integrating CIIS into clinic work flow, coordinating electronic data transfers, and training medical staff on the daily use of CIIS. In addition, she worked with clinics to utilize report and recall functions to ensure immunization best practices and higher immunization coverage in the community and state. Kim’s work with CIIS also included projects and collaborations with several community organizations. For example, she helped to coordinate recall projects funded by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative (CCGC), medical home research with the Colorado Children’s Healthcare Access Program (CCHAP), a comprehensive sentinel site project with the CDC, several research studies with the Colorado Outcomes Research group and data entry programs with Boulder County Public Health, Kaiser Family Foundation, and CCHAP. In October of 2009, after four years with CIIS, Kim accepted a position with the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care as a project manager and health data analyst. She still remains involved with CIIS as a part-time consultant.
